Hi everybody, I'm thrilled to be back to my favorite jazz club in the world, the Blue Note Tokyo!

This time it's very special to me, for three reasons:

- in 2011 it will be 20 years since I first played at theJapan Blue Note circuit, back in 1991;

- I have a new CD coming out in Japan that I totally love - an album called "Rio", my first solo album, all made of songs about my city;

- and last but not least, I will have the joy of introducing to the Japanese audiences one of the greatest contemporary Brazilian composers, my friend Sergio Santos, performing in Japan for the first time.

All that is great and I'm looking forward to it!

みなさんこんにちは、世界中でももっとも好きなジャズクラブのひとつ、ブルーノート東京にまた行くことができるのはとても楽しみ。

今回のライブは3つの理由で、私にとってスペシャルなものなのです。

-初めて日本のブルーノートで演奏をしたのが1991年だったので、今年2011年は20周年。

−とても気に入っている新しいCDが日本で発売されるのです−アルバムのタイトルは『リオ』、初めてソロで演奏したアルバムで私の街、リオ・デ・ジャネイロについての曲が収録されています。

−最後になりましたが、現代ブラジルの偉大なるコンポーザーで私の友人でもある、セルジオ・サントスを日本のみなさんに、喜びをもってご紹介します。彼が日本で演奏をするのは、今回が初めてなのです。

どれも素晴らしいことで、だから今度の公演を本当に楽しみにしています。

Just like Joyce, I also have three reasons to be very happy in August.

- it's my first time in Japan, and I always dreamed to know the country and the culture of the wonderful Japanese people. It's a dream coming true, and I'm very excited!

- will be very special to me play at the Blue Note Tokyo, certainly one of the most important jazz clubs in the world, where I will show you the work I've been building, always having as inspiration the musical culture of my country. There's no better stage for my Japanese debut.

- and last but not least, I will have as my host our dear Joyce, a complete artist that you know very well! Sharing the stage with Joyce is always a great honor to me, and I'm sure we will have a great concert.

So, I ask you: how could I be happier?

ジョイスと同じように、私も8月の公演を楽しみにしている3つの理由があります。

-日本に行くのは初めて、ずっと日本という国、日本の文化と素晴らしい人々について知りたいと夢見ていました、だからとてもエキサイトしているのです。

-ブルーノート東京で演奏するのは本当にスペシャルなことです。世界でもっとも重要なジャズ・クラブの一つですし、そこで皆さんにずっとつくってきた私の音楽や、いつもインスピレイションを受けているブラジルの音楽文化をご紹介できればと思っています。
私の日本デビューのステージとして、これ以上の場所はないでしょう。

-最後になりますが大切なことを、今回のホスト、親愛なるジョイスはみなさん良くご存じの通り完璧なアーティストです！ジョイスと共演するのはいつでも素晴らしいことで、今回の日本公演もすばらしいコンサートになると思います。
